Brickell is Miami's financial district and its most vertical neighbourhood: a dense cluster of glass condos, offices and hotels on the south bank of the Miami River where it meets Biscayne Bay. It does not have a beach, but it has a skyline and a good evening scene.
It is also the easiest part of Miami to explore without a car. Metromover, a free elevated automated train, loops through the downtown and Brickell areas, and it doubles as a cheap, elevated sightseeing ride.
Go if you
- You like city skylines and rooftop views
- You want to get around without driving
- You want a good dinner and drinks after a beach day
Eat and drink
- Mary Brickell Village and Brickell City Centre pack in restaurants of every kind.
- The Miami River has waterside restaurants where you can eat looking at working boats and the skyline.
- Rooftop bars here tend to charge more and have dress codes on busy nights.
Don't miss
- A Metromover loop at dusk for free skyline views.
- The Miami Riverwalk along the river for photos of the towers.
- Brickell City Centre's Climate Ribbon canopy, which cools the open-air plaza.
- Margaret Pace Park or the bayfront for views back toward the skyline.
Know before you go
- Weekday rush hours (roughly 7 to 9 am and 4 to 7 pm) are slow on Brickell Avenue.
- Some rooftop venues require reservations on weekends.
- The area is busy with people working, so quiet mornings are not guaranteed.
Hours, prices and conditions change. Confirm details with the venue before you travel.
