Privacy policy
Last updated October 3, 2026
The short version
- 13 and over only for the poster studio.
- Your selfie is deleted within 24 hours, and usually within minutes of your poster being made.
- We never use your photo to train AI models, and we do not sell it or share it with advertisers.
- The finished poster is public to anyone who has its link. You can ask us to delete it.
- We store your email only to limit free posters and, if you opt in, to send launch updates.
Who we are
Sunset Edition is an independent, unofficial fan publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. Questions about this policy: hello@sunsetedition.example.
Selfies and the poster studio
Age. You must be at least 13 to use the poster studio. The studio asks you to confirm this. We do not knowingly accept photos of children under 13, and we may refuse any image we think shows a minor or is explicit. If you believe a child under 13 has used the service, email us and we will delete the data.
Your photo. When you upload a photo it is re-encoded in your browser (which removes location and camera metadata) and sent to private storage. It is used for one thing: to generate your poster. We then delete it. We also configure the storage bucket to remove any upload older than 24 hours, as a backstop, so a photo cannot stay on our servers longer than a day even if something fails.
AI providers. To paint the poster, your photo is sent to an image-generation service acting as our processor. At launch this may be OpenAI or fal.ai, chosen by us and listed here when enabled. We use their API products, which under their published terms do not train on API inputs by default. We do not allow them to retain your photo for training, and we do not use your photo to train any model ourselves.
Safety checks. We may run automated moderation on uploads and refuse content that is explicit or appears to show a minor. Refused photos are deleted.
Your poster. The finished poster is stored and gets a public link of the form /poster/xxxxxxxxxx. Anyone with the link can see it, and it is what appears in link previews when you share it. It does not include your name or email. To delete a poster, email us the link.
The poster studio asks for your email to enforce a limit of three free posters per day and to prevent abuse. If you tick the optional box, or join the waitlist, we also use it to send launch updates. Waitlist signups use double opt-in: we email a confirmation link first. You can unsubscribe at any time, and ask us to delete your email entirely.
Analytics and cookies
We count simple events (for example, "waitlist joined" or "poster created") to understand what works, without advertising profiles. We hash your IP address with a secret value so we can rate limit abuse; we do not store the raw address in our database. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies. This site does not set advertising cookies.
Who handles data for us
Hosting, storage, queues and database run on Cloudflare. Email delivery, if enabled, uses Resend. Image generation uses the provider named above. We do not sell personal data.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the data we hold about you, including your poster and email, by writing to hello@sunsetedition.example. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have additional legal rights, and we will honour them.
Changes
If we change how we handle photos, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
