The ratings board listed seven content descriptors and an in-game purchases label, which reporters tie to the optional Ultimate Edition upgrade.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has rated Grand Theft Auto VI Mature 17+, with the rating reported on October 1 and 2, 2026, about seven weeks before the November 19 launch. Confirmed The PlayStation and Xbox store listings also show the Mature 17+ rating with the same descriptors.

According to Tech Times, the listed content descriptors are Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs and Alcohol. The rating carries an In-Game Purchases label, which the Rockstar game page also lists. The same report links that label to the $20 Ultimate Edition Upgrade, and the Xbox store page lists a $20.00 Ultimate Edition Upgrade. We have not seen Rockstar or the ESRB spell out that connection themselves, so treat it as a reasonable reading rather than a statement. Unconfirmed
Tech Times also notes the rating lacks the "Users Interact" label that the ESRB adds for online features, and reads that as a sign there is no multiplayer at launch. That is the outlet's inference. It lines up with what Take-Two has said publicly about a single-player launch, but the ratings board has not said it.

For parents and households, a Mature 17+ rating means console age limits and purchase controls are worth setting before November 12 pre-load day.
