The short answer
GTA 6 is not coming to PS4. PlayStation's store page says the game is not playable on PS4. Confirmed Switch 2, Xbox One, Steam Deck and cloud streaming have no announcement. The confirmed platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026. Confirmed
Platform by platform
| Platform | Status | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 and PS5 Pro | Confirmed | PlayStation lists it, flagged PS5 Pro Enhanced |
| Xbox Series X and S | Confirmed | Xbox lists it as optimized for Series X and S |
| PS4 | Not available | PlayStation states it is not playable on PS4 |
| Xbox One | Not announced | The Xbox listing and Take-Two name only Series X and S |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Not announced | No Rockstar or Take-Two platform statement |
| Steam Deck and PC | Not announced | No PC version exists on any official page |
| Cloud streaming | Not announced | Neither store listing mentions it |
PS4 and last-gen
PlayStation's page contains a direct line that the game is not playable on PS4. Confirmed Take-Two's pre-order announcement names only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Confirmed The Xbox page lists Series X|S and does not mention Xbox One. We read that as no Xbox One version, but Xbox does not say so in words. Estimate
In practice that means a PS4 or Xbox One owner needs a new console. There is no cross-gen edition and no free upgrade path from an older console.
Nintendo Switch 2
Nothing has been announced. Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick has said on an earnings call, as reported by Notebookcheck, that the company approaches platforms on a "case-by-case basis" and will not bring every title to every platform. Unconfirmed That is a general statement about the publisher. It is not about GTA 6, and it does not confirm or rule out a Switch 2 version. Ignore any Switch 2 release date you see.
Steam Deck and PC
Steam Deck runs PC games, so it needs a PC release first. No PC version is announced. See our PC release date guide and platforms overview. Rockstar's earlier games reached PC about one year to 19 months after console. That is history, not a promise. Estimate
Cloud play
Neither store listing mentions cloud streaming or Xbox Cloud Gaming. Do not plan around it. If cloud access is announced, it will appear on the Xbox or PlayStation listing. Estimate
